Witnesses taken this 16 Novr. 1797
at the Dwelling House of Jno Smith< no role >

Robt Trapp< no role > Supernumeray [..] Watchman for St. Margts
parish
being sworn, saith, that he was on duty on Tuesday
Morning last the 14 Inst. in Dartmouth Street [..]
he saw two Carts pass him; It was about 10 Minutes
past 5 o'Clock in the Morning of tuesday. he saw
two Drivers with the two Carts, they were both riding
on the shafts. there were no other persons then
present. he was accosted by the Constable of the
Night who told him a man was run over. he
went immediately to the Deced & found him lying
in the Street. he said Bilby has the Cart gone over
you. he replied my Ribs are brocke. he said
that he was riding on the Shaft & fell down
& the wheel went over. the Carts belong
to Mr. Cooperhe got immediate assistance
& he was taken to the Hospital where he
died yesterdayhe was driving the 2d Cart

Jno wilson< no role > House surgeon at the Wr Infirmary being
sworn saith that the deced was brot there before
6 on Tuesday Morng last. nearly all the Ribs on one
side were broken his Liver was also broken & the Cavity
of the Belly was full of Blood the Lungs also were a
little injured. he died on Wednesday morng about 9 o'Clock &
continued sensible till his death
