Informations of Witnesses taken this 8
Novr 1797 at the Dwelling House of
Thos Shalland< no role > the sign of the Brown Bear in
Knights bridge Parish of St Margt on view of the
Body of

John Morland< no role > a Corpl. in the 15 Regt. of Light Dragoons
being sworn deposeth & saith that he was going Yesterday
Morning from Kensington Barraks with 4 others
to the Horse Guards to relieve Guard about 9
O'Clock & as they were riding through Hyde
park near the Mount Gate he saw the deced
lying across the foot path. they went up
immediately & found a pistol in his right hand
which had been discharged & he found another
loaded pistol in his pocket which this Dept
ordd. one of the men to fire off. he heard no pistol
go off. the Deced then appeared to be dead
he had never to his knowledge seen the
deced before he saw no persons near & is
of opinion that the Deced shot himself

[..] Dixon of the 58 Regt being sworn saith
that he has known the Decd about two
last past the decd went into the West
Indies with Sir Chas Grey< no role > about 4 years
past & was at the [..] ing of the D [..]
Ireland & departed [..] feeling well
