27th Octr. 1797 in the Parish of St Ann
Soho at the House of James Ward< no role > the
Sign of the Crown and two Chairmen in
Queen Street Dean Street Soho before
Anthony Gell< no role > his Majesty's Coroner
for the City & Liberty touching the
Death of Humphery Brewster< no role > then and
there lying Dead as follow; to wit.

Ann Spillard< no role > a Nurse to the deceased being sworn
deposeth that she came last Sunday night to wait on
the deceased who was unwell and was attended by
Mr Chilvert a surgeon and from that time was partly
confined to his Room and appeared to be unhappy
in his mind but did not communicate to this
Deponent the cause of his unhappiness that
Yesterday between one and two O'clock in the afternoon
she left him in his Bed Room and by the time she
got down stairs into the Kitchen she heard the
report of a Pistol [..] whereupon she went up
part of the stairs when she smelt the Smell of Gunpowder
upon which she called to the maid servt. and desired her to
into their to look for her master, and the servant not
finding
