being sworn deposeth that a little after
eight o'Clock Yesterday Morning (the 16th. July
Instant he was in Company with the deceased who was [..] up
Mill Bank

little above the Sign of the
Roe Buck
when the deceased undressed himself
in a Boat which he had hired to go up the River Thames
in order to be [..] in the said River
[..] and when he was
undressed he walked round the Boat which was
near the Shoar and then endeavour'd to swim from
some of the Logs of Timber which were floating in the
Water then to others which projected further in the
River when he appeared to be struggling on the
Surface of the Water as if trying to swim on his Back
and then sunk under the Water very near the other
Logs but before he sunk he never called out
for help
