the said little Man (whose Name he [..] could not
learn) into Charge and told Colley he would
Keep him in Charge if Colley would order him
and follow it up, but Colley said he would not
but bid him to release him, just after this
his Comrade John Baker< no role > another of the Bow Street Patrole
under the Command of the said Christopher
Crickland
< no role > who had been of their Party all that
Evening came into the House and also the
deceased Allen whose head appeared to be
bloody but he the said William Allen< no role > never
complained of having received any Blows
either from the said John Baker or any other
Person whatever, then the sd. Christopher
Crickland orderd this Deponent & sd. John
Baker to comewithaway with him which
they did and came to Tyburn Turn pike where
they met the other two Patrole, Allen at
this time had on his working, Smock Frock

Andrew Matthias< no role > House Surgeon at St.
George's Hospital being sworn deposeth
that on Monday [..] last the seventeenth day
of AprillastInstant the deceased was
brought into the said Hospital, at which
time he was nearly insensible having a
Stupor upon him with a small wound and all the Symptoms
of a Concussion of the Brain, upon
examining the Headwoundhe found a small
wound upon the upper part of the Forehead
on the left Side but could not trace any
Fracture, and this Deponent from Direction
of the Surgeons treated his Case as such,
and upon Enquiry he was informed that
the deceased was a Gravel Digger at Kensington Clement Pitts and
thatthewhilst he was digging Gravel
three Weeks ago a Stone flew up and
hit him on the head, that afterwards this
Deponent heard he had received ablow
on the head and that this Deponent had
received a Summons from Marlbro
Street to attend and give Evidence on
the Occasion
