An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Fifteenth day of March in the Thirty first
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth before Thomas

chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Catherine Standfield< no role > came to
h er Death, do upon their Oath say, That on the Ninth day of March in the year
aforesaid the said Catherine Standfield< no role > being alone in her apartment in the
Dwelling House of William Standfield< no role > situate in the Strand in the Parish aforesaid
within the Liberty and County aforesaid and sitting at a Table with a lighted Candle
thereon, It so happened that accidentally Casually and by Misfortune the Cloaths which
the said Catherine Standfield< no role > had on her Body took fire by means whereof the said
Catherine Standfield< no role > was then and there violently burnt in and upon her Right arm
Breast and Neck of which said burning she the said Catherine Standfield< no role > at the Parish
and in the Liberty and County aforesaid from the said Ninth day of March in the Year
aforesaid until the Tenth day of the same Month did languish and live on which said
Tenth day of March in the Year aforesaid she the said Catherine Standfield< no role > at the Parish
Liberty and County aforesaid did die, And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid
do say that the said Catherine Standfield< no role > in manner and by the means aforesaid accidentally
Casually and by Misfortune came to her Death and not otherwise

In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said
Richard Holloway< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors on the behalf of himself and
the rest of his Fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set their Hands &
Seals the Day year and Place abovementioned
