Informations taken this thirteenth
day of March 1789 at the Parish
of St. George Hanover Square within
the Liberty of Westmr . in the County
of Midsex touching the death of
Elizabeth Swaby lying dead in
the said Parish Liberty & County

Samuel Cook< no role > at the Sign of the Crispin in
Poland Street in the Parish of St. James Westmr.
on his Oath Saith That Elizabeth Swaby< no role > the Deced has
lived Servant with Mrs. Cooke Depts. Mother
about nine Months and was a very sobar
honest Woman, That the Deced was
naturally of a chearful Disposition, but
for some days past has been Melancholy
and low Spirited, That the Deced went
out last Tuesday Morning and returned
home about half hour after Eight o'Clock
That Deced want out again Yesterday
Morning, [..] Depts. Brother an Infant about
Eight Years of Age went with her, That
the Boy returned a little before Eight o'Clock
and informed Dept. that Betty was Drowned
in the Bason in Hyde Park upon which
Dept. went there and saw the Deced in
the Water in the Bason about a Yard
from the Shore, Says that he got hold of the
Deced's Cloaths and with the Assistance of
another Person pulled her out of the Water
appearing to be dead, Says that the Deced
was carried to the Sign of the Golden Lion
where a Gentleman belonging to the
Humana Society endeavoured for a long
time to restore her to Life but without
effect, Says that the Deced of late Cryed, and
appeared ever since last Monday very
