Informations taken this Ninth day
of July 1787 at the Parish of St. James
within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County
of Middlesex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of John Gould< no role > lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty & County

Peter Murphy< no role > a Bricklayer on his Oath
saith That on Saturday last the Seventh Instant
this Dept. worked at Mrs. Ward a Surveyor's House
in Queen Street in the Parish of St. James Westmr .
Says that about twenty Minutes after three
o'Clock that Afternoon Dept. went into the
Back Yard to leave his Tools when he saw the
Deced lying dead and bleeding from his
Mouth Nose and Ears and having a large
Wound on the back part of his Head Says that
Surgeons were fetched who Examined the
Deced and endeavoured to bleed him, but
Deced bled very little, and the Surgeons
said that he was dead, Says that he observed
a Machine at a Window over the Place
where Deced lay, was informed that the
Deced was a Painter and believes that he
Accidentally fell from the said Machine and
thereby reced the hurt abovementioned

Thomas Parkinson< no role > a Carpenson a Carpenter
on his Oath saith That he worked last Saturday
in Repairing a House of Mr. Wards in Queen
Street in the Parish of St. James Says that he
saw John Gould< no role > the Deced, who was a Painter
likewise at Work there Says that about Two
o'Clock he saw the Deced take the Machine (upon which he painted from one of the Forenoon
into the Back room, to Paint the outside of the
Window, Says that about a Quarter after three
a Brick layer in the Back Yard cryed out
that a Man was dead there, upon which he
lookedwent down and saw the Deced lye dead there,
