Informations taken this Twenty ninth
day of June 1787 at the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square within the Liberty of
Westminster in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the death
of Charlotte Wood< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County

William Combe< no role > of South Molton Street in the
Parish of St. George Hanover Square on his Oath
Saith That Charlotte Wood< no role > the Deced has Lodged
with Dept. about two Months, Says that last
Night about Ten o'Clock he saw the Deced in
the Dining Room on the First Floor with
Miss Edwards and a Child Dept. Wife's Daughter
Says that about half past Eight this Morning
Dept. was assisting his Wife to sweep the Carp [..]
in the Dining Room and finding that the Deced
was not gave out, he knocked at the Deced's
Room Door and having no Answer Dept. west
down Stairs to Breakfast, and a little after
Nine o'Clock went up again and knocked
at the Deced's Door and called Miss Wood,
having no Answer and finding the Door Look'd
Mrs. Combe and Miss Edwards thought it
necessary to have the Door forced open, and
Mr. Thomas James< no role > a Smith was fatched who
picked the Lock of the Door which was Locked
Says that he then went into the Room and
saw the Deced Hanging in a Claset there
by a Worsted Garter which was fastened to
a Wooden Peg in the Closet and with a
Running Noose about her Neck, Says that
Mr. James Miss Edwards and Depts. Wife and
this Depts.Wifewith a Knife out the Garter and
Deced was catched and laid down upon
the Floor, Deced being dead and Cold and Dept
believes
