An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Parish of Saint Margaret
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Sixth day of February in the twenty sixth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, Before Thomas

< no role > , Gentleman , Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of Richard Edwards< no role > an Infant then and there lying dead, upon

chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how,and by what Means the said Richard Edwards< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say, That the said Richard Edwards< no role > an
Infant of the Age of Three Years on the Second day of February in the
Year aforesaid, being alone in the Lodging Room or Apartment of
Thomas Edwards< no role > his Father in the dwelling House of Henry Brain
situate in Tothill Street in the Parish aforesaid within the Liberty and
County aforesaid, It so happened that the Linnen Clothes which the
said Richard Edwards< no role > the Infant then and there had on his Body
Accidentally, Casually and by Misfortune took Fire, by Reason
whereof and from the Smoke and Flame arising from the said Fire
he the said Richard Edwards< no role > the Infant was then and there Burnt in and
upon the Right side Stomach and other Parts of his Body, of which said
Burning he the said Richard Edwards< no role > from the said Second day of February
in the Year aforesaid. Until the Third day of the same Month, and Year at the
Parish aforesaid within the LIberty and County aforesaid did languish,
and live on which said Third day of February he the said Richard Edwards< no role > ,
at the said Parish LIberty and County of the Mortal Burning aforesaid did Die.
And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the
said Richard Edwards< no role > the Infant in manner and by the Means aforesaid
Accidentally Casually and by Misfortune came to his Death and not
otherwise. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said
Nicodemus Hayne Foreman of the said Jurors, on the behalf of himself
and the rest of his Fellows, in their Presence have to this Inquisition,
set their Hands and Seals the Day Year and Place above written
