Informations taken this Thirtieth day of
January 1786 at the Parish of St. Margaret
within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County of
Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching the
death of William Tuf< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

Edward Hancock< no role > a Lodger at Mr. [..] Brown the Sign of
the two Brewers in Princes Street Westmr . Laborer on his
Oath saith That on Wednesday last Dept. was at Work in
St. James's Park , and saw something in the Canal there
Says that he saw it there on Thursday Friday & Saturday
last, the Twenty eighth Instant where he threw a Stone over
the Deced who was floating in the Water in the Parish
of St. Margaret Westmr. Says that he pulled the Deced
to the Shore, Says that he observed no Marks of violence
upon the Body, but appeared to have been long Drowned.

John Lloyd< no role > at No. 6. Maidenhead Court in the Parish of
St. Margaret Westmr Shoemaker on his Oath saith That
he has known the Deced some time, and is informed that
the Deced has been Missing about nine Weeks, and
has been to make Enquiry, after him, and being informed
that [..] lay at St Margaret [..] Mark house taken out of the Canal, whom
he believes to be William Tufton< no role > . and observed no Marks
of violence upon the Deced.

Elizabeth Woodman< no role > at No. 5 in Cooper's Street in the
Parish of St. Margaret Westmr . on her Oath saith, That
[..] Tufton the Deced came home to his Wife who
Lodged with Dept. the 24th. Novr last (the Deced living in Service with Mrs.
Mileanier in St. James's Place and was very ill with
a Fever when he came home) Says that he Deced
stayed with his Wife until Saturday Afternoon the
Twenty sixth of Novr. as Dept. thinks, where he went
away saying that he would go for a Letter to go to the
Hospital, being than much disturbed in his Mind,
Says that upon being informed last Saturday that a Man
was in St. Margaret Work house taken out of the Canal
in St. James's Park She went there and saw the Body of
William Tufton< no role > who appeared to have been a long time Drowned
but observed no Marks of violence upon the Deced.
