Head blown to pieces by [..] a Ball
dischared out of a Pistol as Dept thinks
the Deced having a Pistol in his Righ thand
with which Deced shot himself no other
Person being there says that the
Deced said very little and that he appeared
to be as usual on Thursday last when
Dept. Dressed his Hair but always
appeared to be low.

Jane Prosser< no role > Servant to Mr. James Peruke
maker in the Strand on her Oath saith
That yesterday in the afternoon between
five and six o'Clock Dept. went up Stairs
into the Garret and passing by Mr. Short's
Room on the second Floor saw his Door
open, That when Dept, was in the Garret
he heard the Report of a Pistol and in
about five Minutes Dept came down
Stairs and finding the Deced's Room Door
shut she try'd to open Mr. Gray the
Journeyman if he heard the Report of
a Pistol, to which he answered that
he had and advised Dept. to tell her Master
which she did and he went up Stairs
came down immediately saying it was
too true, and he went for Mr. Thompson
a Surgeon , who went up with Mr. Gray
and this Dept That Mr. Gray for open
the Room Door which was Locked, says
that she looked into the Room saw Mr. Short
lye on his Back on the Floor and a great
Deal of Blood runing on the Floor, says
that she saw a Pistol in Deced's right hand
and that his face was blown away, and Dept
thinks it was done by the Deced'd discharging the

saya that she saw the Deced Yesterday
Morning that he then appeared to be
very low Spirited, and that he had been
so for three or four days last past and
different to what he was before

Daniel James< no role > of the Strand of the Strand in the Parish
of St. Martin in the Fields Peruke maker
on his Oath saith That Joseph Short< no role > the Deced
has Lodged with Dept about fourteen Months
last past, That Yesterday Afternoon his
Maid servant told him that she had heard
the Report of a Pistol and was afraid that
Mr. Short has Shot himself his Dept being [..] and or Smoak in his Room upon which
he went up Stairs and looking into
Deced's Room saw the Deced lye upon
the Floor, says that he fetched Mr. Thompson
the Surgeon who went up Stairs with
Dept Journeyman the maid servant and Dept followed
says that the Door was forced open and
they all went in and saw the Deced
lying on the Floor with his face and
part of his Head blown to pieces, at a
great Deal of Blood on the Floor, says
that the Deced had a Pistol in his Hard
with which Dept believes the Deced shot
himself, says that he saw the Deced every
Day, and observed that the Deced has been
very low Spirited for a week last past
or longer, and was different from what
