day of May 1785 at the Parish of St
Margaret within the Liberty of Westmr.
in the County of Middlesex upon an
Inquisition touching the death of
Jane Sinclair< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County

Mary Smalt< no role > at Mrs. Ross in little George Street
Westminster Singlewoman on her Oath saith
That Jane Sinclair< no role > the Deced came to Mrs. Ross's
last Thursday and has been there very often
since, but Lodged at Mr. Plunketts in the
Great Sanctuary Westminster in the Parish
of St. Margaret, Says that about five Minutes
before One o'Clockthisthis Dept. went to
call the Deced to Dinner and on opening
her Room Door (which was upon the Latch
but not fastened) She saw the Deced
Hanging in the Room by a Cord, Says
that she was frightened, event downstairs
and acquainted Mrs. Plunkett therewith
Says that she then went to the Sign of the
Barley More and desired John Herbert< no role >
a Soldier to cut the Cord by which the
Deced was Hanging, and gave him a
Knife for that purpose, and Deced went
immediately, but Dept. did not go with
him, and Dept. believes that the Deced
hanged herself, Says that the Deced
appeared to be full of care and trouble
and very low Spirited

Taproom of the Barley Now in the Great Sanctuary
