Informations taken this thirteenth
day of December 1784 at the Parish
of St. Margaret within the Liberty of
Westmr. in the County of Middlesex
upon an Inquisition touching the Death
of Samuel Jay< no role > This name instance is in set 1346. a Prisoner in
Tothill Fields Bridewell in the
said Parish Liberty and County

John Peach< no role > a Prisoner in Tothill Fields
Bridewell on his Oath saith That he has
been Prisoner there almost Eight Months
That Samuel Jay< no role > This name instance is in set 1346. the Deced has been
Prisoner there about a Month, Says that
when he saw the Deced first he had holes
in his Legs and Deced told Dept. that he
had those Holes in his Legs six or seven Years
Says that about three Weeks ago or rather
more Deced was put into the Sick Ward
where Deced attended the Sick People
Says that he attended the Deced who
had beside the Allowance of the Prison
Breath on [..] Water Gruel every day from
Mrs. Wright Says that on Saturday last
was fortnight Mr. Purdue the Apothecary
came to the Prison and enquired for
the Deced, who had, on Account of his
ill Health, been suffered to Walk in
the Yard, Says that William Bryan< no role > the
Turnkey came to enquire for the Deced
and soon after came there again and
asked Dept. if he knew the Deced who
was then sitting in the Lodge, and if he
knew any thing of his getting out to which
Dept. answerd that he knew him, but
did not know any thing of his getting out,
the Deced then complaining of a [..] ing at
his Heart, Says that the Deced continued
ill, and grew worse and died this
