Informations taken this Nineteenth day
of April 1784 at the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square within the Liberty of Westmr.
in the County of Middlesex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of William Humphries< no role > lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty and County

Sarah Powell< no role > Servant to Mr. Anthony Smith< no role >
Victualler at the Ship in Swallow Street in the
Parish of St. George Hanover Square on her Oath
saith That William Humphries< no role > the Deced lodged
at Mr. Smith in a Room two pair of Stairs
Says that the Deced spent the Evening of Saturday at Mr.
Smiths and about Twelve o'Clock went up
Stairs in order to go to Bed, Says that about
half after Eight o'Clock the next Morning Dept.
went up Stairs into Deced's Room for the Candtestick
but did not then see the Deced, That she went
up again about half after Nine and saw
the Deced Hanging by a small Cord fixed to
an Iron Hook drove into the Wainscot in
Deced's Room at the Foot of the Bed Says
that she immediately ran down Stairs and
acquainted several People therewith who
went up to Deced, Says that on Saturday
she observed to be uneasy in his Mind,
Dept. believes that the Deced Hanged himself
