Informations taken this Twenty
third day of January 1779 at the Parish
of St. Martin in the Fields within the
Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the death
of Sarah Carrick lying dead in his said
Parish LIberty and County.

Deced, in the House of Mr. Wells in Hungerford
Market in the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields
on her Oath saith, that the Deced (who took in
washing was yesterday Washing in her Room
That the Deced after she had Di [..] lay down
on the Bed, and was in Liquor, that this Dept.
between One and two o'Clock went out leaving
the Deced upon the Bed, says that the returned
about Eight o'Clock and went to Deced's Room
which was shut, that she put her finger
into the Key hole, the Key being out, that she
did not call but went down Stairs, Says
that about Ten o'Clock Dept. went there again
with a lighted Candle, and with her Key
unlocked the Door, and on looking in saw the
Deced Kneeling upon a Chair there as Dept.
thought, and after calling twice to the Deced
and having no Answer Dept. went down Stairs
and desired Mr. Ross a Neighbour to go with
her to Deced, Says that Mr. Ross and two Girls
come with him, there, That Mr. Ross said she
was Hanging and Dept. then saw the String,
says that Mr. Day was fetched and some others
That the String was cut and Deced laid upon
the Bed, Says that the Deced was [..]
very fond of Liquor.
