Informations taken this Sixth
day of July 1778 at the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square with in the Liberty of
Westmr. in the County of Midsex upon an
Inquisition touching the death of Richard
Merry< no role > lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

Daniel Fitch< no role > of Fulham Victualler on his Oath
saith That on Wedd [..] day Morning last (July 3th.)
between One and two o' Clock Dept. was at Mrs. Eliz
Rench< no role > a Gardener at Parsons Green , That
Richard Merry< no role > the Deced was there who said
he was lane and did not know whether he
could drive the Cart to Market, (Deced not
being the Parter) Says that the Deced drove
the Cart (Sometimes Riding upon the Shafts)
Dwawer by two Horses and loaded with Negotable
to Covent Garden Mrs. Rengh & Dept. being in the Cart Says that about One o' Clock
in the afternoon of the same Day they all
came from Covent Garden towards home
and the Deced riding upon the Shaft of the
Cart, The Deced the stopped at the George there [..] in order to Water
the Horses and in jumping of the Shaft, the
Deced fell down on the Ground owing to his
being lame as Dept. believes, and the Near
Wheel of the Cart passed over the Deced's [..]
Left Lee, but [..] where there of Passed over the Body and to [..] of the eight foot, Says
that the Deced got up and comlained of being
hurt in his Body, and walked to the Publick
House Says that the Deced was carried in a
Coach to St. George's Hospital Accompained by
this Dept. that he was Examined by a Surgeon
there who said that the Deced was hurt in his Body
and ordered him to be Fomented, Says that he save
the Deced on Thursday & Friday at the Hospital
that the Deced said he was very bad and thought
he shod. not get over it. Says that Deced died on
Friday the 3d. day of July instant in the Hospital
