Informations taken this Twenty seventh
day of September 1776 at the Parish of St. James
within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County
of Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching
the death of a new born Male Child lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty and County

William Marchant< no role > servantPleachmart to Mr. Walker in
Great Poultney Street on his Oath saith, That he
stood at his Stable Door in Bindle Lane in the
Parish of St. Jones Westmr. last Night when the
watchman was calling the hour of Ten, Says that
the watchman's Dog ran forwards to a Parcel
that lay on the Ground under a Cart there,
Says that he asked the Watchman what was there
upon which the watchman looked at it, and
said it was only an old Flag Basket, but did not
touch it as Dept. thinks, Says that this Morning
between six and seven o' Clock he saw the Bask
lying in the same place with a Male Child
there in which was dead, and begin to look
Green about the Belly, but Dept. observed no
Marks of violence thereon.

Thomas Williams< no role > of Broad Street Surgeon on
his Oath saith. That he this day Examined the
Body of a Male Child in the Infirmary belonging
to the Parish of St. James westmr. which appeared
to have lived upwards of a fortnight, Says that
he observed some lived appearances upon the
Neck Head and Body, uncommonly so about
the Neck, but Dept. cannot say whether the
Child was Strangled, or died in the natural
way, the Child appearing to have been dead
about three days.
