Robert Ower< no role > Servant at Mr. Adams's Timber Yard at the
Neat Houses Milbank St. John the Evangelist Westmr. on
his Oath saith that Yesterday about 8 o'Clock in the Morning
he was at Breakfast at his own House at the Neat Houses
near the Roebuck Alehouse , and heard an un common
Noise like speaking and a Plunging in the water, Dept.
immediately went to the water like and upon the Legs
and Saw a Man going down into the water with his hand
above his Head, Deponent cried out thre's a Man a
Drowning, he saw time rise and fall three times; but did
not then speak or make any more Noise that he heard,
Deponent intended to loosen some of the Logs but thinking
he should not be time enough to give time assistance, he
sent his tittle firt to Mr. Petree of the Roebuck for his
Boat, but the Boat being on the Logs it was got into water

as soon as possible and searched for the Deced but in
Vain, Depont. stayed about an Hour and then want to
his work, Deponent found the Deceds Cloaths on the Lags
which he took home to his House till the Deced should
be found owned Deponent says when he first went upon hearing
the Noise he saw no Prison Bathing in the Names not
any Person near, nor any Boat near the Place.
