the Deced above after Supper, until he went up
again with Eliz: Hare< no role > and found the Deced upon
the Floor, and Dept. believes that the Deced's
Cloaths Accidentally tooke Fired by which the Deced was
much Burnt.

John Dent< no role >

James Coxwell< no role > of lower Brook Street Apothecary
on his Oath saith, That on Friday Night between Eleven & twelve o'Clock Dept. who was
in Bed, was desired to come to Lady Dodington Montagu< no role >
in Grosvenor Street, Says that he went there immediately
and found the Deced on her Bed, with her Neck face
Right Leg and one or both of her Hands very much
burnt, Says that he spoke to the Deced, who
attempted to speak but said nothing intelligible
Says that Mr. Burnett the Surgeon came soon after
who applied Dressings to those parts of the Deced
Which were burnt, and tho' all proper care was
taken the Deced died in less than an hour after
he saw her, and Says that her Death was caused
by her being Burnt.

Elizabeth Hare< no role > Maid to Lady Dodington Montague
the Deced on her Oath saith That he has lived there
about four Years and an half, and attended on the
Deced, Says that she saw the Deced at Supper on
Friday night last (Jany. 7.) about Twelve o'Clock in
the Dining room and went down Stairs, leaving John
Dent
< no role > the Footman waiting on her, Says that in about
five Minutes John came down Stairs bringing the
Supper Things with him, Says that she Sewed the Deced's
Ruffles into her Night Shift and was going with John
upstairs, when they heard the Deced crying out in the

Dining Room Upon which John and Dept. went in and one
the Deced lying on her Face upon the Floor by the Couch
and near the Bedchamber Door with her Clothes on Fire
Says that she spoke to the Deced, and that the Deced
said "Betty several times, and that she had put
the Candle upon the floor", and that she Deced repeated a great
many times". Say that she took the Deced up and
endeavoured to extinguish the Flames, That the other
Maids were called up, and assisted to lay the Deced
upon her Bed, Says that the Deced's Garters were
found upon the Table, and Dept. believes that the Deced
Cloaths took Fire in taking them off, Says that no
Person was in the Dining Room with Deced from the
time that John came down with the Things after Supper
until John and this Dept. went up again and found
the Deced lying upon the Floor
