Informations taken this Thirteenth day
of December 1773 at the Parish of St. Margaret
within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County of
Middlesex upon her Inquisition touching of the
Death of Margaret Butcher< no role > lying dead and
the said Parish Liberty and County.

James Bean< no role > of King Street in the Parish of St. Margt
Westmr. Green Grocer on his Oath saith, That Margaret
Butcher the deced lived with her Husband Mr
Butcher in a Fore Room on the First Floor in the Same
House with Dept. who lives on the Ground Floor says
the deced has lived there about Four Years and this
Dept. about Eight Years, says that on Saturday last
(Decr. 11) between four and five o'Clock the Deced
came into the House with a bag of Chips and went
along the Passage towards her own Room, says that
about two o'clock Yesterday Morning(Decr. 12)when the
was in Bed he heard a Noise in the Passage near
his Bed Chamber Door, says that he got up and Called
his maid Servant who likewise got up and stood
with dept Room at the Door, where Dept Called
several times and knocked at the Door but had
no Answer says that the Noise Lu [..] and
sounded like a Person ratting in the Throat That
in about a Quarter of an hour he opened the Door
and saw a Woman lying down in the Passage near
his Door, Bleeding, Says that he went out, found
the Street Door locked, and called in two Watchman
who saw the Deced, and Depr. then knew it to
be the Deced, who was then dead, and Dept, then
saw a large Wound in Deced's Throat says that
some People come in and that one of the Men
had a Razor in his Hand which he said he had locked
up in the Passage Bloody and Dept. believes that
Deced gave herself the Wound in her Throat which was
