Informations taken this Twenty eighth
day of August 1773 at the Parish of St.
Clement Danes within the Liberty of
Westmr . in the County of Middlesex upon
an Inquisition touching the death of a new
born Female Child lying dead in the said
Parish Liberty and County.

Holliwell Street on her Oath saith That last Night
between Eight and Nine o'Clock Dept. was going out of
Lyon's Inn into wych Street in the Parish of St.
Clement Danes and in the Passage there saw something
lying down on the Ground by the side of the Wall, and
on touching it with her Finger found it to be a
Flag Basket and heavy having something in it
Says that a Woman came by,and afterwards
a Man, and on a lighted Candle being fetched
the Man opened the Basket, (which was Sewed
up very close) in Depts. presence, upon which
Dept. saw a Child therein which appeared to be
dead, Says that when the Man was opening the
piece of Checquered Linnen Cloth in which the Child
was wrapped, Dept. fansy'd that something moved
in the Basket, but is not sure of it, Says that
she afterwards was told that it was a Female Child
but that she did not touch it Says that the Childs
Face and Right shoulder looked black, but that
she observed no Marks of violence upon the Child
