Informations of Witnesses taken this 6th.
day of August 1773 at the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square in the Liberty of Westmr. at the
House of Mr. William Mansfield< no role > the Sign of
the Coach and Horses in Mount Street . Before
Thomas Prickard< no role > Gentleman His Majesty's
Coroner for the said City and Liberty touching
the Death of Charles Stapleton< no role > then and
there lying Dead, as follow

Thomas Lindsey< no role > Servant to Mr. Peatt Bricklayer on his Oath
Says that he saw the Deced Yesterday Morning between 6 & 7
o' Clock at Work at South Street , thanks he was not quite labour
Shook hands with him and went to his Work, saw him again
at 7 o' Clock had a Pinch of Snuff or two with him and
Agreed to have a Bit of Mutton & Potatoes at Mr. Palmer's
about half an hour after 9 he heard a Man was Drowned in
the Serpentine River, and in about half an hour he went to the
Serpentine River and saw the Deced lying on his Belly on the
Shore with his head downwards, Says he not know the
Deced
