Informations taken this Twenty ninth
day of May 1773 at the Parish of St. Margaret
within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County
of Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching
the death of Samuel Touchet< no role > Esqr . lying dead
in the said Parish Liberty and County.

Elizabeth Taylor< no role > on her Oath saith That she has
lived about Twenty Years last past in the Family
of Samuel Touchet< no role > Esqr . the Deced, Says that she
Breakfasted yesterday Morning about Nine o'Clock
with the Deced and Mrs. Toucket at his House in
Prince's Street in the Parish of St. Margaret Westmr .
Says that she went away after Breakfast about
some Business leaving the Deced in the Drawing Room
on the First Floor, where they Breakfasted, Says that
Mrs. Touchet went out and returned a Little
before four o'Clock that afternoon, Says that Mrs. Toucher
soon after came up to Dept. who was in the Second Floor
and appearing to be much Frightened, desired Dept.
to come down, and said that her Bedchamber Door
was fastened, upon which Dept went down with
Mrs. Touchet found one of Mr Touchet's Bedchamber Doors
fastened, Dept. went round to the other Badchamber
Door and opened it, (the same not being fastened)
and on her going into the Room she saw the Deced
Hanging by a Cord which was fastened to the
Post at the Feet of the Bed or the Cornice near
it at the side of the Bed, Says that with a Knife
she cut the Cord and Deced dropped down upon the
Floor, Says that Mrs. Fouchet immediately sent
for a surgeon as Dept. thought. and Dept. believes
that the Deced Hanged himself, Says that the
Deced yesterday Morning at Breakfast was very
Melancholy
