the House that the Deced had Hanged herself in the Hole
upon which Dept. went down Stairs and in a Hole
where the Disordered People are usually put, this Dept.
upon opening the Door which was Bolted on the outside,
found the Deced Hanging by a Linnen Handkerchief
which was fastened to an Iron Bar over the Door
and around her [..] Neck, Says that she cut the
Handkerchief by which the Deced was Hanging and the
Deced was laiddroppeddown, and Says that the Deced's Knees.
were upon or very near the Ground when Dept. first
found her, and believes that the Deced Hanged herself.
And Says that the Deced last Week in the Workhouse
was continually talking to herself and Dept. believes
that she was Disordered in her Senses.

Mary George< no role > one of the Nurses at the Workhouse of
St. James's Parish Westmr . on her Oath saith, That Ann
Norris
< no role > the Deced, has been in the Workhouse about
five or six Weeks, and for the last fortnight in Dept. Ward
Says that the Deced was continually talking and
appeared to be Disordered in her Senses, Says that
one Night when Dept. was in Bed she was called by
Mrs. Wright the Deced's Bedfellow saying that Mr. Norris
was Strangling herself with her Handkerchief, which She
Mrs. Wright I had taken from about her Neck, upon which
this Dept. fetched a Strait Waistcoat and put it upon
the Deced, who was afterwards quiet, Says that on
Saturday Evening last the Deced made her Escape out
of the House over the Workshop, and about One o'Clock
on the Sunday Morning was brought in again by Mr.
Humphreys the Beadle, that the went to Bed but
talked as usual that Night and Sunday, Says that
between Ten and Eleven o'Clock on Sunday the

Deced (by Order of the Governor as Dept. was informed)
was put into the Hole below, where People Disordered in
their Mind are usually put,was [..] Says that she
carried some Meat and a Pint of small Beer to the
Deced about on o' Clock on Sunday to the Hole for her [..] that she
Drank the Beer but did not Eat the Meat, Says that
she saw the Deced afterwards three times in the Hole
when she wanted to get out, the Door being Bolted on
the outside, but Dept. could not properly open it as the Deced was
confined there by the Governor (to prevent her escaping
again as Dept. believes) Says that she observing that
the Deced was quiet in the Hole for some time imagined that she was asleep.
and with a Candle from above observed the Deced
hanging near the Door of the Hole. and Dept. believes
that she Hanged herself, and that she was out of her
Senses, And this Dept. says that the Deced was some Years ago
Confined in Bethlehem being then Disordered in her
Senses.

Elizabeth Shesmoth< no role > a Washer Woman at the Workhouse
on her Oath saith That on Sunday last about Eleven
o'Clock the Porter brought the Deced down Stairs and Just
her into the light Hole, that the Deced talked much there
for some time, that the Porter and another Person
brought down her Dinner about One o'Clock, That
about four o'Clock Dept. observing that the Deced was
quiet, went to the Door and heard the Deced Snoring
as the thought, That in two or three Minutes she
heard the Poor of the Hole Shaking, and thought that
the Deced was endeavouring to unbolt the Door, it
being fastened with an Bolt on the outside Says that
about Seven o'Clock the Deced was found Hanging in the
Hole and believes that the Deced Hanged herself, That this
Dept. was all the Afternoon below Stairs near the Hole and Says that
no Person went into the Hole after the Porter Carried the Deced's Dinner
