Informations taken this Thirteenth day of April
1772 at the Parish of St. George Hanover Square within
the Liberty of Westmr. in the County of Middlesex
upon an Inquisition touching the Death of a Man
unknown lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

William Cooper< no role > of Chelsea Waterman on his Oath saith
That on Sunday last was fortnight or three weeks Dept. [..]
not sure which it was,) Dept. was walking under [..]
at Chelsea between six and Seven o'Clock in the Morning
when he observed a Coat, a Wastcoat with ten pence in the Pocket & Breeches a pair of
Shoes, two pair of Stockings, and a pair of Buckles
Plated with Silver lying at the top of the Stairs before
the House of the Moravians called Duke Stairs in Chelsea
Says that he found neither Hat or Shirt with the Cloaths,
Says that he looked round for some time thinking that
somebody, to whom the Cloaths belonged, was gone into
the Thames but seeing nobody, Dept. carried the Cloath [..]
to Mr. Beck the Church Warden who ordered Dept. to [..]
care of them, Says that he this day Saw the B [..]
of the Deced in the Work house, but did not know him
nor has he heard of any Man being missing.

St. George Hanover Square Gardener on his Oath saith
That on Wednesday last (April 8th.) about Twelve oClock
he was informed that the Body of a Man lay Drowned
by the Thames side, upon which he went to the
water side and there a little below the Spread Eagle
he saw the Deced lying Naked partly in and partly
out of the Water, the Tide then beginning to flow
Says that he ordered his Men to move the Deced up
to the Bank, where he layd some time, and was
