Informations taken this Twentieth day of
March 1772 at the Parish of St. George Hanover
Square within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County
of Midsex upon an inquisition touching the
Death of Thomas Stout< no role > lying dead in the said
Parish Liberty and County.

William Butler< no role > Victualler at the Star & Crown in
the Kings Road in Chelsea on his Oath saith That on
Monday last (March 16) this Dept being sitting in
his Taproom near the fire side when he saw [..]
one of Mr. Norris's Carts loaded with Dung and drawn
by two Horses coming gradually along the Kings Road from London,
and Thomas Stout< no role > the Deced (who drove for Mr. Norris)
riding upon the Shaft of the Cart Says that the Cart
passed along, and was followed by another Cart of
Mr. Norris's loaded with Dung, says that he heard the
Driver of the hind most Cart very soon after call out
to his Horses to stop two or three times, and that he
ran forwards, Says that he was told by a Child in
the House that a Man was run over, upon which
he ran out and saw the Deced sitting down upon
a heap of Dirt in the Road, his left Leg being broke
as Dept. thought and the right Leg bleeding very
much, that he believes the Deced, who appeared
to be much Intoxiated with Liquor, fell off the Shaft
of the Cart into the Road and that the Near wheel of
the Cart past over his legs, whereby he reced the two
abovementioned as this Dept. apprehends and believes
Says that the Driver of the other Cart appeared to be much
in Liquor, and that the Deced was immediately after
Carried in a Cart to St. George's Hospital . Says that
the Cart and Horses were the Property of Mr. George
Norris
