Informations taken this Fifteenth day of
January 1770 at the Parish of St. Margaret within
the City & Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Middlesex
upon on Inquisition touching the Death of Mary
Readhead
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish City Liberty
and County.

Joseph Evans< no role > a Lodger at the Ax & Gate the Corner
of Downing Street Westmr. Chairman on his Oath saith
that about ten days ago Dept. was sitting before the Door
of the Ax and Gate Alehouse and saw the Deced lying
upon the Ground in Whitehall at the crossing leading from the Treasury
into Privy Garden Says that he did not see the Deced fall
down nor does he know how She came down, Says
that an Empty Cart drawn by three Horses was then close by
the Deced, and that the Off Wheel of the said Cart as he
believes did go over the Deced,as he believes,Says that
the Driver of the Horses was on the Near side of
the Horses and near to them, and immediately
went to the Deced and helped to lift her up, Says
that he observed that the Deced's left hand and left
Foot were Bruised and Bleeding Says that the
Deced was Sensible but did not charge the Driver
with driving rashly over her

William Greaves< no role > of Downing Street Westmr. Surgeon
on his Oath saith That on Friday January 5th. he was
fetched to Mr. Brooke's House in the same Street a
little before four o'Clock in the Afternoon where he
found Mary Readhead< no role > the Deced and on Examining
her he found a Wound on the left hand and a Fracture
of one of the Bones of the Hand, and also a very large
Wound on her left Leg near the Ankle, her RightLeftLeg
being very much Bruised but no Wound, Says that
the Deced told Dept. that in crossing the Street at
Whitehall she fell down, and that a Cart had gone
