his Breath very short, in about a Minute and an
half Dept. desired the Deced to come up, Says that the
Deced looked up and came up half way but was not able to speak up; upon
which the Deced fell down the Steps and Depts. there upon
went down the Steps and tied string around the Deced's
Arm, Says that the Deced was pulled some part, but
the Cord breaking the Deced again fell down in the Hole
where the Deced lay about five or six Minutes, and
was then drawn up, says that the Deced was alive
but unable to speak, Says that he was bled by a
Gentleman, but that he continued speechless and died
in about two hours as Dept was informed. Says
that the Deced was always wiling to go down into the hole
and was not forced down by any Person, and that he was
unwilling to let any other go down into the Hole. And
this Dept. says that about half an hour before the Deced
fell down in the Hole, a large Quantity of Water forced its
way into the Hole out of some Place, which made it
more offensive and dangerous.
