Informations taken this Eighth day of December
1768 at the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields within
the Liberty of Westmr in the County of Middlesex an on
Inquisition touching the Death of John Adams< no role > lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty and County.

William Barton< no role > of Exeter House in Exeter Street in the
Parish of St. Paul Covent Garden Shoemaker on his Oath saith
that Yesterday Evening about half at hour after nine
o'Clock Dept. being at his own Door was informed by some
Person passing by, that a Man was haveing in Burleigh
Court , Says that he immediately went into Wurleigh Court in the Parish of St. Martin the Fields
and in a House there (kept by Mr. Wilson as Dept. was inform
in a Room one pair of Stairs, he saw the Deced hanging by
a Linnen Neck cloth tyed around the Wooden Rail at the
Feet of a Bed and fixed about the Deced's Neck, Says that
Dept. and his Brother lifted up the Deced and that another
Man untied the Neck cloth, and Deced was laid upon the Bed
being dead as Dept. believes, but not quite Cold in the Body
Says that the Neck cloth was then Cut, and Mr. Winter a
Surgeon fetched, who said that the Deced was Dead and
that it was too late to attempt Bleeding.

Thomas Wilson< no role > of Burleigh Court in the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields Weaver on his Oath saith That John Adams< no role > the
Deced has lodged with Dept. ever since last May (excepting
one Month Deced was in the Courtney) Says that Deced came
home last Tuesday Night about Ten o'Clock much in Liquor
Says that he then looked very will and distracted, and in
a short time went up Stairs into his Room on the First Floor
Says that a Soldier Say with Deced, who went out yesterday
Morning about Six o'Clock, and did not returnuntil the
Evening as Dept. was informed, Says that he went out yesterday
about Eleven o'Clock, and returned home a little, before Nine
o'Clock in the Evening, when he was informed by his Wife that Deced
was
