in the County of Midsex }


Informations taken this Third day of
September 1768 at the Parish of St. Margaret
within the City and Liberty of Westmr . in the
County of Midsex on an Inquisition touching
the Death of James Baxter< no role > lying dead in the said
Parish City Liberty and County.

Lawrence Wills< no role > House Surgeon at the Westmr. Hospital
in the Parish of St. Margaret Westmr . on his Oath saith, That
on Tuesday last Augt. 30th. about two o'Clock in the Afternoon James
Baxter
< no role > the Deced was brought to said Hospital as a
Casualty, having a lacerated Wound in the Calf of the
left Leg, Which Deced told this Dept. he had reced by a
Cart passing over his Leg, Says that the Wound was Dressed
and all proper Care taken of Deced, but the Leg mortified
and he died in said Hospital yesterday afternoon
and Dept. believes that the Wound in the Leg was the
Cause of his Death. And this Dept. says that the Calf
of Deced's Leg was torn from the Bone

< no role > on her Oath saith, That being in her Parlour on
Tuesday last, and hearing a Cart coming along said Street
Dept looked out, and through the Spokes of the Cart Wheel
saw the legs of the Deced on the Ground in the opposite side of the Street
his Head being down a Kitchen Window, where Deced
was picking up some Leather as Dept. believes, Says that
she called out to the Carter, who immediately stopped
his Horses, but the off Wheel of said Cart had passed over
the Deced's Leg. and tore the Flesh from the Leg Bone, Says
that the Cart was loaded anddrawnthat the Driver
had hold of one of the Horses and was on the near side
of the Horse, and could not, as Dept. believes, See the Deced
as he lay on the Ground when the wheel went upon his Leg
