Informations of Witnesses taken this 2d. day
of August 1768 in the Parish of St. James in the
Liberty of Westminster at the Dwelling House of Mr.
Knell the Sign of the Red Lyon in Portland Street
Before Thomas Prickard< no role > Coroner for the said City and
Liberty touching the Death of William Cook< no role > in the
said Parish then and there lying Dead as follow

Robert Simpson< no role > of Charles Street St. Margaret Westminster Bricklayer in his
Oath says that the Deceased was a Bricklayer and Yesterday being
at Work with this Deponent and others at the Duke of Queensborough
House in Vigo Lane in the Parish of St. James Westminster , and
about 2 of the Clock in the Afternoon a Shower of Rain falling, the
Deced and the rest of the Men went into the Garrets of the sd. House
some in one and some in another, that when the Rain ceased the
Men got all together and Agreed to go out to their Work, that the
Deced went out of one of the Garrets Windows and got upon the
Parapet Wall with on intention to light on the Coping to proceed on
his Work, that when he was setting on the Wall some Bricks gave
way and flung his feet over the Projection of the Coping by which
means he accidentally fell from the sd. Parapet Wall into the Street, that
the Deponent went down immediately, and found him Dead.
