An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint James in the Liberty of Westminster
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Second day of August in the Eighth Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
William Cook< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of James Nicholson< no role >
William Mumby< no role > , John Munshall< no role > , Edward Jones< no role > , Robert Launders< no role > , Thomas Ashlin< no role > , Robert Wright< no role >
James Davis< no role > , William Gilks< no role > , Adam Bowns< no role > , William Turner< no role > , Joseph Richiardi< no role > , Charles Hodges< no role >
Archibald Campball< no role > ,and William Hill< no role > and John Dixon< no role >
good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said William Cook< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say That the said William Cook< no role > on the first day of August
in the Year aforesaid at the Parish and in the Liberty and County aforesaid being upon a certain
Parapet Wall at the Top of the Dwelling House of His Grace the Duke of Queensborough
situate in Vigine Lane in the said Parish Liberty and County, it so happened that accidentally
casually and by Misfortune he the said William Cook< no role > by means of some loose Bricks in the
said Wall giving way then and there fall from the said Parapet Wall to the Ground in the Street
by means whereof be the said William Cook< no role > then and there received one Mortal Wound on the
head of him the said William Cook< no role > of which said Mortal Wound he the said William Cook< no role > then and
there instantly Died. And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said
William Cook< no role > in manner and by the means aforesaid accidentally casually and by Misfortune
came to his Death and not otherwise, And that the said loose Bricks were Moving to the
Death of the said William Cook< no role > and one of no Value. In Witness whereof as well the said
Coroner as the Foreman of the Jurors aforesaid on behalf of himself and the rest of the said
Jurors have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day and Year first abovewritten
