Informations taken this Sixth day of July
1768 at the Parish of St. Margaret within the City
& Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Middlesex , on
an Inquisition touching the Death of Isabella Bates< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish City Liberty and County.

Jane< no role > the Wife of John Smith< no role > of Dartmouth how in the Parish
of St. Margaret Westmr . Cabinet maker on her Oath saith, That Isabella
Bates
< no role > the Deced had been a Lodger to Dept. about three
Years, Says that the Deced went up Stairs on Monday
Evening last between Nine and ten o'Clock and wished Dept. a
good Night, Says that She went up Stairs between Eleven
and Twelve o'Clock the same Night and seeing Deced's
room door open Dept. went in, and saw the Deced lying
on her Bed there, undressed, foaming at the Mouth
and groaning being insensible and not able to speak
Says that She fetched her Husband, and alarmed the
Family, several of whom soon come to Deced, Says that
Mr. Harris a Surgeon bled the Deced, and that Mr.
Alexander's Servant was fetched to Deced, who Said
that he recollected the Deceds face and ordered the
room to be Searched for a Phial, Says that she found
a Half pint Phial upon a Cupboard in Deced's Room
which she gave to her Husband to carry to Mr
Alexander's Servant, who ordered Deced some
Medicines which Dept. gave her, but Deced did
not recover her Senses and died yesterday Morning
(July 5.) about two o'Clock. Says that the Deced
has been very uneasy and disturbed in her Mind
for about afortnight last past, and Dept. believes
that the Deced was Disordered in her Senses.
