An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of St. Margaret in the Ciyt of Westminster
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of middlesex , the Fourth day of April in the Eight Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain,
France and ireland, King Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the king for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
John Martin< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of George
Allen

< no role > and Samuel Powell< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
king, when, how, and by what Means the said John Martin< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say, That the said John Martin< no role > on the Thirtieth day
of March in the Year aforesaid, in Tothill Fields , in the Parish of St. John the
Evangelist within the City Liberty and County aforesaid being driving a certain
Empty cart, drawn by one Horse, and Riding upn the Shaft of the said Cart,
It so happend that the said Horse took fright,a nd that the said John Martin< no role >
Accidentally Causally and by Misfortune fell from the said Cart unto the Ground,
near unto the Near Wheel of the said Cart, by Reason whereof the said Near wheel
of the said Cart did then and there go upon and pass over the Body of him the
said John Martin< no role > , by Means whereof he the said John Martin< no role > did then and there
Accidentally Casually and by misfortune receive divers mortal Bruises in and
upon his [..] of which said mortal Bruises he the said John Martin< no role >
from the [..] in the Year aforesaid until the Second day of
[..]
Parish of St. Margaret within the duty Liberty and County person did languish and
languishing did live, on which said Second day of April in the Year aforesaid, in the
Hospital aforesaid, he the said John Martin< no role > of the mortal Bruises aforesaid did die.
and so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaiddo say,
that the said John Martin< no role > in Manner and by the Means aforesaid, Accidentally Casually,
and by Misfortune came to his death, and not otherwise. And that the Near wheel of the said
Cart was moving to the Death of the said John Martin< no role > , and is of the Value of two shillings,
and the property and in the Possession of Joseph Armitage< no role > of Tothill Fields aforesaid Tanner,
In Witness where of as well the said coroner, as the said George allen< no role > foreman
of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows, in their presence,
have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals, the Day Year and Place first
above written
