Mary Sheppard< no role > Servant to Mrs. Ballard in Hungerford
Market , on her Oath saith, That she was in her Mistress's
Shop on Friday Night the 30th. of Octr. with Thomas Mossell< no role >
the Apprentice when a Young Lad named William Glover< no role >
(as Dept. was informed) and a Boy whose name Dept. does
not know, come into the Shop, says that sometime after
George Cox< no role > the Deced came to the Shop Board and stood
on the outside, Says that very soon after she saw Glover
push the Deced, upon which Deced struck Glover on
his face, and immediately stripped saying that he
would Fight Glover and the Boy, if they would come
out into the Street, Says that they did not go out but
stood ont he inside of the Door, Says thatthatthe Deced
took up a Butcher 's Tray and made a blow at Glover
who stooped down, and he struck the Boy with it on
the Head and Knocked him down, Says that Glover
took up the Boy, and both made towards the Deced Says
that the Deced struck Glover on the Head with the Tray
and broke the Tray, Says that the little Boytook up a
Knife
came into the Shop but Dept. did no see him take
any Knife, Says that the Deced soon after cried out "O my Side
"I am Murdered", and clapping his Hand upon his side,
Dept. saw Blood upon his Hand, but did not see the wound,
Says that the Deced was led to an Apothecary in the
Neighbourhood..

< no role > her son was of the Age of Twelve Years on the
eighteenth day of April last past.

Samuel Jones< no role > Pupil to Mr. Humphreys Surgeon
to the Westmr. Hospital in the Parish of St. Margaret Westmr.
on his Oath saith, That on Friday Octr. 30. last about Nine
o'Clock in the Evening George Cox< no role > was brought to said
Hospital as an Accident, having a wound on the
left side, rather backwards, between the ninth and tenth
Ribs, about one Inch and an half in length, Says that
the Wound was Dressed and all proper care taken of the
Deced but Deced died on Saturday last (Novr. 7th.) about Seven
o'Clock in the Morning, Says that he opened the Body of
the Deced yesterday Morning and found that the Wound
had penetrated into the Cavity of the Breast, that the Lungs
were wounded, and covered all over with Matter, and
a Quantity of extra versated Blood in the Breast, which
he believes to be the cause of Deced's Death. And this
Dept. says that he asked Deced on the Evening before his
Death (the Deced being then sensible) how he reced the
wound, to which Deced Answered that he was fighting
with one Boy, and that another Boy took up a Butcher
Knife and threw it at him, upon which Dept. asked
him if he had given the Boy any provocation, to which he
replied that he had not struck the Boy, or given him any
provocation.
