Informations taken this Twenty sixth
day of October 1767 at the Parish of St. James
within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County
of Middlesex on an Inquisition touching
the Death of William Henry Smyth< no role > lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty and County.

Samuel Ford< no role > of Portland Street Surgeon on his
Oath saith That on Wednesday Evening last about
nine o'Clock he was fetched to William Henry Smith< no role >
the Deced whom he found lying upon a Bed in his
Lodging room in Portland Street with a large Wound
in his Throat and the Windpipe almost Divided,
Says that he saw a great Quantity of Blood in the
Bed Cloaths and that the Wound at that time Bled
very free, Says that he dressed the wound and took
all proper care of the Deced, says that the Deced
was soon after able to speak, and was sensible,
upon which Dept. asked him how he came to coming
so rash an Action, to which Deced answered that he
was seized with a Fit of Melancholy, and that
he had done it with a Razor, Says that the Deced
seemed to be sorry for what he had done and had
a Clergymen to pray with him, Says that the
Deced died yesterday about Noon, and that the
Wound in the Throat was the cause of his Death

her Oath saith, That the Deced had lodged with this
Depts. Mother about fifteen Years in Portland Street
in the Parish of St. James Westmr. Says that on
Wednesday
