Informations taken this Eighth day
of October 1767 at the Parish of St Anne
within the Liberty of Westminster in the
County of Middlesex on an Inquisition
touching the Death of Robert Doddington< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

Nicholas Jersey< no role > Servant to Archibald Stewards< no role > of
York Buildings Wine Merchant on his Oath saith, That
he had the care of a House and Vaults belonging to said
Mr. Steward in Newport Market in the Parish of St.
Ann Westmr. and that he usually lay in the House
has pair of Stairs, Says that Robert Doddington< no role > the
Deced had lodged in a Room on the same Floor with
this Dept. about three months, says that he saw the
Deced going up Stairs towards his apartmt on Tuesday
night last, about Eight o'Clock, and that he heard
the Deced Cough and move in his own Room upstairs
morning about four o'clock, Says that he this Dept
came down Stairs yesterday Morning a Little before
Seven o'Clock and found the Deced hanging by a Cord
fastened to a piece of Timber near the Street on two
Door and around the Deced's neck, Says that he
did not touch the Deced but ran upstairs, and
alarmed the People in the House and Took Joures
Fennell down with him to Deced, says, that he
cut the Cord by which the Deced was hanging and
the Deced was laid on the Ground, says that the
Deced was then Dead, but not Cold, Says that he
with the Assistance of other People carried the
Deced up Stairs and laid him upon his own Bed
Says that the Door and Windows of the House were
fastened and that he believes the Deced hanged himself
Says that the Deced used to walk about the Room at
