Informations taken this Twenty third
day of September 1767 at the Parish of St. James
within the Liberty of Westmr in the County of
Middlesex on an Inquisition touching the Death
of Barbara Gray< no role > wife of Nicholas Gray< no role > lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty and County.

Nicholas Gray< no role > at the Lion and Goat in St James's Street
Westmr .Victualler (Husband to the Deced) on his oath
saith That the Deced was in his House yesterday, an
in the Evening about her Business. Says that the
Deced about Eleven o'Clock last night went upstairs
in order to make her Bed and go into it, as Dept
thought Says that in about a Quarter of an hour
after this Dept. went upstairs to see if Deceds
Candle was safe, and on going into Deced's Bed
Chamber on the first Floor. he saw the Deced lying
on the Floor with her Head towards a Chest of
Drawers at the feet of the Bed and her feet towards
some Boxes on the right side of the Door, says that
he attempted to lift up her Head, But Deced was
helpless and could not speak, but felt warm
Says that he immediately called out, and Mr.
Cunningham and Mr. Barrett come up, and Soon
after several others, says that he was then put out
of the Room and the Dept further Says that he was
not out of his House from the time the Deced went up
stairs until he found her lying on the Floor, and
that he heard no Noise up Stairs during that time
