Informations taken this Fourth day of
August 1766 at the Parish of St. Margaret within
the City & Liberty of Westmr in the County of
Middlesex , on an Inquisition touching the Death
of Timothy Stevens< no role > lying Dead in the said Parish
City Liberty and County.

William Monk< no role > of the Bread Way in the Parish of St.
Margaret Westmr. Coach maker on his Oath saith That
on Wednesday the Twenty third day of July last Dept was
at the Blow Ancker lablow Charring Cross, when he saw People
gathering together in the Street upon which he went there
and saw Timothy Stevens< no role > the Deced lying on the Ground
with his right Leg broke a little below the Knew, Says that
he asked Deced how it happened to which he answered
that three Horses drawing a Cart and coming out of Scotland
Yard , just as he was possing by, the fore horse threw him
down and trod upon his right Leg & that he thought the
Cart had not gone over him, Says that the Deced said he
had not seen the Horse before he was the own down, and did
not charge the Driver with having wilfully drverse the Horses
This Dept says that he procured two Chairman to carry Deced
to the Westmr. Hospital and that he went with Deced there
where he saw Mr. Humphreys Examine the Deced Leg and
said that it must be cut offs

Jeremiah Bright< no role > Pupil to Mr. Humphreys one of the
Surgeons at the Westminster Hospital in the Parish of St.
Margaret Westmr. on his Oath saith That on Wednesday the
Twenty third day of July last Timothy Stevens< no role > the Deced was
brought to said Hospital as a Casualty, Says that he Examine
the Deced and found a Violent Fracture of the Bone of the
right Leg below the Knee Says that the same day Deced's
Leg was cut off by Mr Humphreys in the presence of Mr. Watson this Dept and
several Others, Says that the afterwards appeared to be
easy until Friday last, when he grew worse and died
on Saturday last in the Afternoon in said Hospital, and
Dept. believes that the Fracture abovementioned was the cause
his Death.
