Informations taken this Seventh day of July 1766
at the Parish of St. George Hanover Square within the Liberty
of Westmr. in the County of Middlesex on an Inquisitions
touching the Death of John Creighton< no role > lying Dead in the said
Parish Liberty and County.

Maria Barff< no role > Servant to Mr. William Markey< no role > in New Bond Street
in the Parish of St. George Hanover Square on her Oath saith, That
the Deced John Creighton< no role > has lodged with said Mr. Mackey on the
Second Floor, about four or five months last past, Says that the Dept
and Mr. Mackey come house together between twelve and one o'Clock
last Saturday Morning (being the fifth day of July Instant) Says that
the Deced was very much in Liguor and called for his Candle
upon which Dept. gave him a Candle and Deced immediately were
up Stairs, Says that about Nine o'Clock the same Morning this
Dept. took up some whey to the Dept. Room, as she and to do, and
on the Door which opens between the Deced's Dining Room and
Bedchamber she saw the Deced Hanging, and thought him Dead, but
did not then observe the Garter, Says that she run down Stairs any
Acquainted some of the Family therewith, upon which Mr. Mackey
and Mary Maples< no role > the other Maid Servant went up Stairs immediately
and this Dept. soon followed, Says that she then saw the Garter by
which the Deced was hanging, which was over the Doorand
Says that Mr. Mackie lifted up the Deced and Mary Moples
cut the Garter with a Penknife, and Deced was laid down upon
the Floor, Says that the Deced was quite Cold and Stiff, and had
been Dead (as Dept. believes many hours, and believes that the
Deced hanged himself, Says that the Deced was naturally of a
chearful Disposition but that he appeared on Friday last to
be low Spirited and Melancholy.
