An Inquisition Indented taken for Our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Parish of St. Paul Covent Garden , within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter
of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter Westminster in the County of Middlesex the
Twenty first day of February in the FifthYear of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George
the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of
the Faith and so forth before Thomas Prickard< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the
King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of Thomas Eastgate< no role > then and there
lying dead, upon the Oath of Richard Staines< no role > , Thomas Stephens< no role > , John Bladwell< no role > , Thomas Davies< no role > , William George< no role > ,
Benine Thacker< no role > , Percival Bentley< no role > , Thomas Settrie< no role > , Joseph Harris< no role > , Charles Moran< no role > , John Jackson< no role > , Richard Steward< no role >

Chosen who being then and there duly Sworn and Charged to inquire for our said Lord the
King, when how, and by what Means the said Thomas Eastgate< no role > came to his Death, do
upon their Oath say That the said Thomas Eastgate< no role > , not being of sound Mind Memory and
Understanding, but lunatic and distracted, on the Twentieth day of February in the year aforesaid
from and out of a certain three pair of Stairs Window, then and there being in the Apartment of him
the said )Thomas Eastgate< no role > , in the Dwelling House of Thomas Eastgate< no role > [..] der Father of the said Thomas

< no role > the deceased) situate in Russel Street in the Parish Liberty and County aforesaid, did violently
cast and throw himself to the Ground, to and against the Stone Pavement in the said Street before the
said dwelling House; by Means of which said casting and throwing, he the said Thomas Eastgate< no role > did
then and there receive one Mortal Fracture on the back part of the Head of him the said Thomas
Eastgate
< no role > , of which said Mortal Fracture he the said Thomas Eastgate< no role > then and there instantly died
and so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid, do say, that the said Thomas Eastgate< no role > , not
being of sound Mind Memory and Understanding, but lunatic and distracted, in Manner and by
the Means aforesaid, did kill himself. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner, as the
said Richard Haines< no role > foreman of the said Jurors, on the behalf of himself and the rest of his
said Fellows, in their presence, have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals, the Day Year
and Place first abovewritten
