in the County of Middlesex

to wit

An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign
Lord the King, at the Parish of St. Martin in the Feilds within Liberty of the Dean and
Chapter of the Colligiate Church of St. Peter Westminster in the County of Middlesex , the Sixth
day of August in the fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the
Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth
Before Thomas Prickard< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City
and Liberty on view of the Body of William Clark< no role > then and there Lying Dead, by the Oath
of James Morrice< no role > , John Dick< no role > , Thomas Turner< no role > , Thomas Fletcher< no role > , John Smith< no role > , William Amos< no role >
James Duke< no role > , William Peters< no role > , William Treble< no role > , William Williams< no role > , Alexander Watson< no role > , Joseph

< no role > , Thomas Hart< no role > , and Samuel Baldwin< no role >
Good and Lawfull Men of the said Liberty duly chosen, who being then and there duly Sworn
and charged to Inquire for our said Lord the King when how and by what means the said William
Clark
< no role > came to his Death, Do upon their Oaths say That on Sunday the fifth day of August
Instant the said William Clark< no role > going into the River Thames near Hungerford Stairs in the Parish
Liberty and County aforesaid there to Bathe himself it do happened that Accidentally Casually
and by Misfortune he the said William Clark< no role > was in the waters of the said River then and
there Suffocated and Drowned, of which said Suffocation and Drowning he the said William
Clark
< no role > then and there instantly Died. And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid
do say that the said William Clark< no role > in manner and by the means aforesaid accidentally
casually and by Misfortune came to his Death and net otherwise. In Witness whereof as
will the said Coroner as the Foreman of the Jurors aforesaid have to this Inquisition set
their Stands and Seals the said Sixth day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand
seven hundered and sixty four
