Informations of Witnesses taken this Sixteenth
day of April 1764 at the House of William Morrice< no role > in
South Audley Street in the Parish of St. George Hanover Square
within Liberty of Westmr in the County of Middlesex
on an Inquisition taken on View of the several Bodies of
Diana Towers Charles Towers< no role > Sarah Towers< no role > , John Nichols< no role >
Mary Nichols< no role > his Wife & Mary Nichols< no role > his Daughter lying Dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County, before Thomas Prickard< no role > Coroner for
for the said City and Liberty.

William Sikes< no role > Servant to Edward Walter< no role > Esqr . in Grosvenor Square
in the Capacity of Valet do Chambre, on his Oath saith, that about
twelve O'Clock on Friday Night last, Deponent went from his said
Master's House, to his own Lodging in the House of Mrs. Nash situate
in James Street in the Parish of St. George Hanover Square ,
within the Liberty of Westmr. where his wife also lodged (being one the first floor) Say's
that he went to Bed about one O'Clock, and was alarmed in
about half an hour, by Mrs. Aickin, (who was a lodger in the
back room on the same Floor with Deponent) who knocked
at Deponent's room Door and cryed out Fire, Deponent
says that he immediately got out of Bed, and went down
Stairs into the Street, the back room on the First Floor being
then on Fire, Deponent says that he believes the Fire
began in the two pair of Stairs, and that it was Accidentally
and without any intention.

Ann Nash< no role > of James Street in the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square Haberdasher on her Oath saith, that Dept
being in her own House on Friday Night last, was there
Alarmed about half on hour after one on Saturday Morning
by Mr Sikes's crying out Fire, Says that she thereupon got
up and on going into the Street observed that her two pair of
Stairs Floor was on Fire, Says that Diana Towers< no role > Widow
Charles Towers< no role > & Sarah Towers, lodged in the back room on
that Floor and that John Nichols< no role > Mary Nichols< no role > his Wife and
Mary Nichols< no role > his Daughter lodged in the Foreroom on the
same Floor, Says that Diana Towers and her two Children
Charles and Sarah, went up Stairs into their Room about
ten O'Clock on friday Night, Says that she believes said
