The King against George Smith< no role > for the
Prosecution of Sophia Davy< no role > for an Assault
with Intent to commit a Rape.

Thomas Venner< no role > of No. 2 Church New Fenchurch
Street in the City of London Gentleman Solicitor for the
above named Defendant maketh Oath That an Indict-
ment was preferred against the above named Defendant
in [..] which Indictment he
appeared and pleaded in the following Session, That in the
Eleventh day of March several days prior to the
Commencement of such Session this Deponent with a View
of preventing unnecessary Expence to the said Defendant and
of enabling him to go to Trial at such Session Write to the said
Defendant to inform him that due Notice sent to this Deponent
would be Accepted and deemed good and sufficient but this
Deponent hath not received any Notice within hath he been
Requested No doubt of any, although in consequence of such
Letter of him this Depont. the said Defendant made
Application by a Friend to this Deponent offering to
Compromise (but such offer was not [..] ded to) this Deponent
in therefore fully convinced the above named Defendant did
know that Deponent was employed to Conduct this
prosecution & was Authorized to receive Notice of Trial of
applied to for that purpose
