Nathaniel Evans< no role > One of the Constables of and belonging to the
Parish of St. Martin in the Fields in the Liberty of Westminster
and County of Middlesex William Taylor< no role > one of the Bedels of the
said Parish Richard Townsend< no role > of the same Parish Woolen draper
William Herring< no role > of the same Parish Haberdasher of Small Wares
and Richard Waklett< no role > Clerk to William Croft< no role > of the same Parish
Attorney at Law, each speaking for himself severally make Oath
And first the said Nathaniel Evans< no role > for himself saith That he
this Dept. having on the 23d day of September last received a
Warrant or Mittimus under the Hand and Seal of Thomas
Balack Esqr . One of his Majesties Justices of the Peace for the
City and Liberty of Westminster aforesaid and residing in the said
Parish of St Martin in the Fields bearing date the 23d. day of
September aforesaid directing the keeper of Tothill Fields Bridewell
to receive into his Custody the Body of Jane Corant charged on the
Oath of Nathaniel Jefferys< no role > with being a loose idle & disorderly
person and her to keep in Custody for the Space of One Month
from the date thereof did on the said 23d. day of September take
to his Assistance the other Dept William Taylor< no role > to convey the [..]
Jane Corant to the said Bridewell And this Dept. William Taylor< no role >
saith that he this Dept. did accordingly Assist the other Dept:
Evans in conveying the said Jane Corant to Bridewell aforesaid
and did in the Forenoon of the said 23d. day of September last
deliver the said Jane Corant to and leave her in the Custody of
Mr. Samuel Attersell< no role > the keeper of the said Bridewell who in this
Depts. presence read the name of the said Jane Corant out of the
said Warrant or Mittimus (delivered to him by the other Dept Evans)
and took Notice of her as the Person thereby comitted to his Custody
And this Dept. Richard Townsend< no role > saith that he this Dept. did at
the request of the said Thomas Balack< no role > didon the 23d. day of Sepr
last in the Afternoon go along with the said Thomas Balack< no role > to
Bridewell aforesaid where the said Jane Corant was then in
Custody at which time and place the said Thomas Balack< no role > did
in this Depts presence give strict charge to the keeper of
Bridewell whose name as this Dept. has since been informed
is Samuel Attersell< no role > not to discharge the said Jane Corant out of
Custody without his knowledge and Consent notwithstanding
which as this Dept. has been informed the said Jane Corant was
the next day discharged out of Custody and Appeared Publickly
