The Statement seems at this Period to stand
thus.
Poors Rate at 4s. in the pound4s-..d

Improving Tax under Commission..-6

So that exclusive of the Land Tax the Parochial
Taxes which the Tenants now pay amount to 6s/6d in
the Pounds on the Rack Rents.
There are great complaints among the Tenants of the
deadness of the local Trade and other Circumstands of
disadvantage which with the Present unusual burthens
of temporary Taxes. al together seem to make it
difficult to determine what alteration can take place in
the Rental so as to satisfy the just expectation of the
Hospital
without distressing the Tenantry
It is not easy to ascertain the respective advantages
which the Premises have derived from these
Improvements which have been the foundation of this
Investigation I would therefore respectfully suggest
to the Governors that if they should determine upon
raising the rents that the most eligible mode would
be to oblige the Tenants in future to pay on
additional Sum equal to the half of the Present
Land Tax which therefore will be and Increase
to the Annual Produce of £65.
On, if the Governors should be of Opinion that a
greater rise should take Place the Tenants might have
notice to pay the whole of the Land Tax which their
would be an increase of £130.
