following(Vizt.) May it please your MatyI have Examined the matter
Referred to me by the Order of Councill hereunto annexed and haveing heard
all persons by their Councill, I find the Petitioners have totally failed in the
proofe of the Suggestions of their petition. And I do humbly Certifie that
King Edward the Sixth in the Seaventh year of his Reigne Founded the Hospital
of St. Thomas in Southwark
and Constituted the Mayor Citizens and Comonalty
of the City of London
Governors, And for a long time the usage hath been that
a president and a Select Number of Citizens who are called Governors have
had the Governmt. & managmt. of all the affaires of that Hospitall And there have been
