Whereas JamesJosephPorritt Overseer of the Poor of the Parish of
Paddington in Holborn Division in the County of Middlesex and
Francis March< no role > Overseer of the Poor of the Parish of Acton in Kensington
Division in the said County have not made returns of the whole
number of Men appointed to be raised by virtue of an Order of General
Sessions made in Pursuance of an Act of the present Session of Parliament
intituled "An Act for raising a certain number of Men in the several
"Counties in England for the service of His Majestys Army and Navy"
for the said Parishes of Paddington and Acton (which are united together
by virtue of the said Act) within the time limitted to them for doing the
same And Whereas the said Overseers have had due Notice to
appear before the Justices of the Peace Acting in and for the said Division
of Holborn And appearing before them at the Petty Sessions held this
day for the said Division and being examined by them as to the
Cause of such default And it having been made to appear by such
Overseers to the satisfaction of the Justices aforesaid that such default
hath not happened by reason of any wilful neglect of or disobedience
to the Order and that the same hath been unavoidable WE the said
Justices whose Names are hereunto subscribed and Seals affixed do
hereby on due consideration of the premises adjudge Joseph James Porrett< no role > and
Francis March the said Overseers to be guilty of having made such
default but that the same is unavoidable And WE do Fine the said
JosephJames Porret and Francis March in the Sum of £10 over am abovr
the Sum of £21 which we the said Justices have ascertained as
nearly as may be to be the Amount which hath been given on an
average as a County to Men inrolled by virtue of the said Act
within Holborn Division aforesaid for each of the three Men appointed
to be raised by or for the said Parishes of Paddington and Acton
and whereof such default hath been made as aforesaid And by
virtue of the Powers vested in us by the said Act do order that
the same be forthwith paid by them into the Hands of the
Treasurer of the said County of Middlesex for the used
