Middlesex to wit


The Examination of Ann< no role > the Wife of William Clarke< no role > of
Chatham Gardens in the Parish of Saint Leonard
Shoreditch in the said County Watch hand Piercer,

Who on Oath saith That about a Week ago James Regler< no role > informed her
that a Lottery or Little go, was drawing at the House of Mr.
Shelton No. 5 in Mount Low Islington He desired liver to go and
insure which she did, with a view to detect them and to bring
them to justice, and that she had no view of profit or advantage
whatsoever, On Friday last she went there and saw John
peekins
< no role > , Elizabeth Moody< no role > , Samuel sheen< no role > and a Mr. Bunkle.
the wheels now produced stood upon a Table, Sheen sat behind
them, that Bunkle was in the room when the drawing
began, but walked out. A Man in a green Coat named
(as she thinks) Lovegrove stood and called out the Blanks and
prizes and sheen wrote them down in a Book; the said
Elizabeth Moody< no role > drew the Papers out of the blank prizes
Wheel-That a Woman whose name is unknown to this
Examinant Drew the Numbers out of the other Wheel, the said
John Perkins< no role > cut the strings that were tied round the Papers
that were drawn, and called out the Numbers. There were
about a dozen of People there at the time, some of whom
paid Money. That this Examinant went in andaboutout
an account of the heat of th room, and staid about an
hour and a half; Sheene and Lovegrove took down the
Insurances and Sheene received the Money, and this
Examinant saw him receive Money in particular
from the said James Pegler< no role > and this Examinant
further saith that she was there again on Monday
Evening last & the said Elizabeth Moody< no role > was there; This
Examinant staid till the Lottery was finished. There is
generally about an hundred numbers or more drawn
every Evening, Every time it comes to a score the wheels
are turned round a fresh. And this Examinant
further saith that she went there again last Night
about seven o' Clock and found the said John Perkins< no role >
employed in calling the Numbers over and the said
Elizabeth Moody< no role > was filing the Prizes and Blanks and
drawn with ah Needle and thread-That there were
